Laws current as of November 25, 2024 I was not granted a protection order. What are my options?
If you did not get a protection order, you may be able to apply again for a protection order if new acts of stalking occur after having been denied the order.
Also, the judge should issue a written decision so you can read why s/he denied the order.1 If you think that the judge made an error, you can talk to a lawyer about the possibility of filing an appeal. Generally, appeals are complicated, and it is very likely that you will need the help of a lawyer. For more information about appeals, go to our Filing an Appeal page.
