Laws current as of October 30, 2024 Where can I file for a sexual assault protective order?
You can file for a sexual assault protective order in any court that hears family or juvenile matters. However, it must be filed in the parish:
- where you live;
- where the abuser lives; or
- where the sexual assault occurred.1
