Can the abuser try to change or dismiss a permanent stalking protection order?

If the abuser wants to change (modify) or end (terminate) an existing stalking protection order, s/he must prove both of the following:

  • There has been a substantial change in circumstances; and
  • These changed circumstances make it so that the respondent will not commit acts of stalking again in the future.1
