Included in this list are organizations that provide free or low-cost legal services to victims and survivors of abuse, as well as to others who qualify. Even if the organization does not have a lawyer available to represent you in court, you may want to ask if there is a lawyer with whom you can consult to obtain advice. We list the organizations by the county where the office is located, but many offices serve multiple counties. We indicate the “counties served” whenever possible. Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) offers services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Services include counseling for adults and children, support groups in English and Spanish, safety planning, emergency financial support, and help with education and training. AVDA can also provide legal services and representation for little or no cost in family law matters, such as protective orders, divorce, child support, child custody, and adoption. They have offices in Houston, Brookshire, and Stafford. This location serves Fort Bend County.
