Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse (AVDA) offers services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Services include counseling for adults and children, support groups in English and Spanish, safety planning, emergency financial support, and help with education and training. AVDA can also provide legal services for little or no cost in family law matters, such as protective orders, divorce, child support, child custody, and adoption. They have offices in Houston, Hempstead, Brookshire, and Stafford. This location serves Harris County.

The Montrose Center’s Anti-Violence Program has expertise in serving LGBTQ survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking, as well as all survivors of hate crimes. Services include a 24-hour crisis hotline, referrals to local shelters, counseling, compensation, and education. They can also provide accompaniment to file a police report, to the hospital for a SANE exam, and to legal and court appointments.
