Included in this list are organizations that provide free or low-cost legal services to victims and survivors of abuse, as well as to others who qualify. Even if the organization does not have a lawyer available to represent you in court, you may want to ask if there is a lawyer with whom you can consult to obtain advice. We list the organizations by the county where the office is located, but many offices serve multiple counties. We indicate the “counties served” whenever possible. Provides services to survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking throughout Westchester County. Services include: a 24-hour hotline, online chat, wheelchair-accessible emergency shelter, legal assistance in family law and immigration matters, support groups, children’s programs, and more. Pace Women’s Justice Center provides services primarily for domestic violence clients in Westchester and Putnam Counties. Services include direct legal representation in family law and domestic violence-related civil matters for domestic victims/survivors and elder abuse victims including: orders of protection, custody, visitation, child support, spousal support or maintenance, property issues, divorce, immigration, and other matters. For Westchester residents, they also have the “Moderate Means Matrimonial Panel,” which are for people who earn too much for free legal services but cannot afford to pay a private attorney. Clients are screened based on income and, if accepted, are referred to an attorney who will represent them at a substantially reduced rate.

This office is a walk-in office in the Yonkers Family Courts for domestic violence victims seeking orders of protection, custody and child support. In addition, there is a Legal Helpline (listed above) where callers can receive legal information and referrals.
