We added a new question to our New Jersey Extreme Risk Protective Order section called What happens to the respondent’s firearms once an extreme risk protective order is issued? In it, we included the 2022 addition to the law that says at least 10 days before returning the firearms once the order is terminated, the local law enforcement agency must notify the family or household member who filed the petition that the firearms or ammunition will be returned to the owner.
