Child Support

Laws current as of August 25, 2025

How will child support payments be collected and provided to me?

Any child support that a judge orders must be paid to the State Disbursement Unit (SDU), which is the state office responsible for managing child support. These payments can be sent on to you by direct deposit or via a special debit card.1 Any parent paying child support is required to provide the following information to the SDU so that these payments can be collected, as well as to keep the information up-to-date until the requirement to pay child support is ended:

  1. social security number;
  2. residential and mailing addresses;
  3. any change of address;
  4. telephone number;
  5. driver’s license number;
  6. employer’s name, address, and telephone number;
  7. e-mail address; and
  8. any change that might affect the child support payments.2
