The Lawyer Referral Service is a state bar program which helps members of the public who can afford to pay a lawyer find an attorney who handles their type matter. Attorneys who participate in the ASB Lawyer Referral Service agree to charge not more than $50 for an initial 30 minute consultation; the fee for any additional work must be agreed-upon by the client and lawyer.

If you are a victim of abuse, you may want to ask the Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service whether or not they screen for lawyers who are experienced in handling domestic violence cases. For a suggested list of questions to ask regarding the lawyer’s fees and experience when interviewing an attorney, go to our Choosing and Working with a Lawyer page.
