On our Tennessee Custody page, we:
- Updated How will a judge make a decision about custody? based on 2024 legislative changes emphasizing that a parent’s history of abusing a child’s sibling should be taken into account when making a custody decision; and
- Created the new question What is a parenting plan and what are “parental responsibilities”? to more clearly explain how parenting plans work.
These changes made in English; Spanish coming soon!
We also edited the title of Can the parent who committed violence or abandoned the child get custody or visitation? in both English and Spanish to make it clearer that both abandonment and abuse can prevent a parent from getting custody.
Finally, we added three related statutes to our Selected Tennessee Statutes page.
