RI Suing

October 2021

Based on 2021 updates to the laws, we revised our Rhode Island Suing an Abuser for Money page to increase the limit for lawsuits from $2,500 to $5,000. In addition, in Am I eligible? Do I file in family court or district court? in our Rhode Island Domestic Violence Restraining Orders page, we added the new category of persons who can file for a restraining order in family court (adult plaintiffs with minor children). We also updated four links to resources on our Rhode Island Custody page.
