March 2022

Based on 2022 changes to the law, we updated How do I register my restraining order in Oregon? in our Oregon Restraining Orders section to remove the requirement that the order given to the county sheriff must be the most recent order and to include the fact that someone acting on the petitioner’s behalf can register the foreign order in any circuit court in any county. Also, based on 9/2021 changes to the law, we updated What types of sexual abuse protective orders are there? How long do they last? to reflect the fact that a final order for a minor could last until January 1 after the petitioner turns 18, whereas it used to be until the petitioner turns 19. Updates made in English and Spanish.
