If you are a victim of abuse, you may want to ask the Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service whether or not they screen for lawyers who are experienced in handling domestic violence cases. Maine State Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service provides 30-minute consultation with a lawyer for $25 administrative fee. Phone lines are open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM and Friday from 8:30 AM to 12 PM. Online referral requests may be made 24/7.
