Lawyer Referral

If you are a victim of abuse, you may want to ask the Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Service whether or not they screen for lawyers who are experienced in handling domestic violence cases. The Hawaii State Bar Association (HSBA) provides the Lawyer Referral & Information Service (LRIS). LRIS is a free service that connects clients with attorneys on a variety of legal issues, including custody, divorce, orders of protection, child support, and other legal matters.

The HSBA also provides a Legal Line, where volunteer attorneys host a telephone hotline every Wednesday evening from the hours of 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Legal Line is limited to the hour. The volunteer attorneys provide free legal information to the public. This one-hour weekly program assists members of the public who may not have access to an attorney and need general advice or who just want to be pointed in the right direction to get information.
Available Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. only, at (808) 537-1868. Please note that the volunteer attorneys only take calls. There is no option to leave a voicemail and have your call returned.
