Restraining Orders

To register your order out-of-state protection order, referred to in the law as a “foreign protective order,” you can provide a certified or authenticated copy of your order to the court administrator in the county where you are living or in any of the counties mentioned here, if applicable. You can also request the court that issued the order to send the certified copy directly to the court in Minnesota where you want to register it.¹ If the copy you have is not certified or authenticated, you can still file it if you swear in an affidavit that it is an accurate, valid copy.²
