Can I sue my husband's mistress for breaking up the marriage (alienation of affection)?

The type of lawsuit that you are referring to is known as “alienation of affection” - it was popular years ago and has now been abolished (done away with) in most states. We don’t have any information about this on our website but I did some brief Internet searching for you – it appears that it is no longer a valid lawsuit in the majority of states. According to Wikipedia, it is still recognized in Hawaii, North Carolina, Mississippi, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Utah (see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alienation_of_affections). However, since I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the information found on Wikipedia, you may want to talk to a lawyer in {STATE} to find out if this is possible in your state and in your specific situation. Here is a link for lawyers: [GIVE ONLY PRIVATE LEGAL REFERRAL SERVICE LINK] Also, you may want to ask a lawyer if the adultery is something that might be relevant or not in a divorce proceeding if you decide to file for divorce - in many states, fault is not necessarily considered in a divorce unless it is “egregious” (outrageous) or courts may require a certain amount of proof of adultery that may be hard to meet. Here is the information we have on divorce in STATE: LINK And again, talking to a lawyer may be helpful.
