Can I ask the judge to re-instate my alimony once it expires?

Although I am not an expert in your state’s laws, generally I don’t know if there is a way to extend alimony once it has ended – was the end date part of a settlement between you and your ex or was it ordered by the judge after a trial. If it was ordered after trial, often times judges use a formula to figure out the amount and the years that the alimony will last but again, I don’t know if the courts in [STATE] use a formula or not. If it was decided in an agreement between you and your ex in a settlement (and not by the judge after trial), I am not sure if that makes a difference in whether you can try to ask for it to be reinstated. Either way, I strongly suggest contacting a divorce lawyer in your state to ask this – there are places that have free legal services where a lawyer may be able to let you know your state’s law on this.
