Info on posting a bond due to PK threat
Sometimes, although I cannot speak to the laws in STATE on this, a judge may require that a parent who has threatened to kidnap a child to must post a bond with the court (deposit significant money) in the event that the parent takes off with the child. The bond may be used by the other parent for lawyer fees or other fees involved in getting the child back, for example. You may want to ask an attorney if this may be something to consider in your situation and if so, you can ask the attorney how the bond process works in your state. However, this type of bond may not address threats to a child’s well-being apart from kidnapping (if there are other threats). You may want to talk to an advocate or attorney about ways to protect the child - for example, whether or not the child may qualify for a protection order, etc.
Here is some information about restraining orders, in case you would like to learn more about the topic and think about whether it may be an option you might want to pursue. Here is a link to that information: LINK However, you may want to ask an attorney as to whether or not this may or may not be appropriate in your situation.
