Child Support

.Can the non-custodial parent be ordered to pay for damage a child causes (property damage, vandalism, etc)

Unfortunately we do not have specific child support info on our website, WomensLaw.org and so we don’t’ have information as to whether or not a parent can be ordered to pay items such as those that you mention. I will give you a link for lawyers in your state if you want to try to get some legal advice about this. I can also point out that sometimes, if there is an expense that one parent believes another parent should pay that is not covered under child support, s/he may decide to sue the other parent in small claims court. I do not know whether or not the expenses you describe may or may not be something a judge would divide between the parents or whether the judge may attribute the fault to the parent who is supposed to be supervising the child when the incident occurs – again, maybe a lawyer can advise you on this.

Here is a link for lawyers:LINK and here is some basic info about small claims court in STATE (although it is tailored towards suing an abuser for damages, some of the info may still be useful to read): LINK
