Child Support

Can child support money go directly to the child (not the parent)?

I do not know if STATE has a law that may allow the minor to get the support directly. I imagine that money goes to the adult custodian since it may be a lot of responsibility to put on a minor child to manage his/her own money, and to make sure it goes towards his/her needs as opposed to his/her desires or that it isn’t spent frivolously. Perhaps once the child reaches a certain age, the law may allow for a judge to determine that the child is mature enough to get the support directly perhaps - as I said, I do not know. You may want to contact a lawyer in STATE who deals with child support who hopefully can tell you if the child can receive the support directly - here is a link for lawyers:STATE
