Can I get the father to split bills related to pregnancy/miscarriage?

Can I get the father to split bills related to pregnancy/miscarriage?

Generally, a person is responsible for his/her individual medical coverage. We don't have information on our website about this issue, but I did a quick search and could not find any laws in STATE
holding a sexual partner responsible for the other party's medical expenses. IF YOU DO FIND A LAW, LINK TO THE PAGE AND EXPLAIN IT. However, you may want to speak with an attorney or a policy
advocate in your state because there could be some laws or policies pending or other laws or policies that may be helpful in your situation.

Additionally, in general, if a person has health insurance coverage and receives medical care from a provider out-of-state, that person may be able to submit the cost of medical care to the insurance company and receive
some partial coverage or reimbursement even if the medical provider is out-of-network. If a person does not have health insurance or the health insurance provider does not cover any of the out-of-state medical fees, a
person may be able to negotiate directly with the hospital to reduce the bill. A person may be able to do this by speaking directly to the billing department about his/her particular situation or difficulty with payment.
A person may also want to submit a letter directly to the hospital to follow up after a telephone conversation and explain in writing why he/she may need a discount or to be put on a payment plan. An attorney may be
willing to help you draft that letter or may be able to give you some advice about what to include in that letter. This page on our site has information about legal resources in Alabama if you would like to speak
