What is the definition of stalking in Missouri?

For the purpose of getting a protective order, stalking is defined as when any person purposely behaves in a way that:

  • serves no legitimate purpose; and
  • causes you to reasonably fear that you are in danger of being physically harmed.1

The actions must occur two or more times and can include, but are not limited to, when the stalker directly, indirectly, or through a third party follows, monitors, observes, surveils, threatens, or communicates with you. This includes if the stalker uses a device, such as a GPS tracker or other technology.1
