What is the penalty for violating state firearm laws?

Under Kansas state law, possessing a weapon illegally is a crime. If the abuser possesses a firearm concealed on his/her person while under the age of 21, s/he is committing class A nonperson misdemeanor. If the abuser has a shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches in length or any other firearm that automatically discharges more than once when a single trigger is pulled, s/he is committing a level 9, nonperson felony.1
