¿Puede el propietario negarse a renovar mi contrato de alquiler o desalojarme por ser una víctima?

El/la propietario/a no puede terminar su contrato de alquiler o negarse a renovarlo si el maltrato que usted, un/a miembro de su familia inmediata u hogar experimentó ha sido documentado correctamente. There are exceptions however.1 El/la propietario/a sí que puede terminar su contrato de alquiler o negarse a renovarlo si:

  1. la persona identificada como el/la agresor/a en sus documentos también es inquilino/a en su unidad; y
  2. ambas de las siguientes son ciertas:
    • the abuser’s words or actions have threatened the physical safety of other tenants, guests, invitees, or licensees; and 
    • the landlord served you with a three-day notice requiring you not to voluntarily allow or agree to the abuser coming into the unit or the surrounding property (“the premises”), but you continue to allow the abuser to be there.2
