WomensLaw serves and supports all survivors, no matter their sex or gender.
There are some shelters that do accept pets but they are few and far between. The National Domestic Violence Hotline has a state-by-state list that you can look at. In addition, on our WomensLaw.org website, we list places that offer sheltering for pets while victims are in shelter if that’s an option you are interested in pursuing. Lastly, here are some other ways to plan for your safety whether you do or do not end up going into shelter.
