Can a shelter throw me out?
Programs can put a time limit on shelter stays. I don’t know if that is the reason that the person told you that you needed to leave the shelter or if there was another reason, such as an accusation that you broke the rules, for example. Were you told why you have to leave?
Generally, when someone is being exited from a program, that person may try to work with an advocate at the program to either see if you can appeal the decision to leave so quickly or for assistance in finding housing after leaving the shelter. Is anyone there working with you on something like this. Also, you might want to ask to speak to a supervisor at the program to make sure that proper protocol is being followed or to ask for help with finding another shelter.
