Restraining Orders

Can V and A agree to disregard RO for a short time so A can see child?

Generally, although I cannot speak to STATE’s laws, only a judge can modify a protection order. Sometimes a respondent may request that specific alterations be made to the order to attend certain school events for a child or to allow contact for other reasons and a judge may allow such changes to be made if the judge believes it can be done safely. I cannot speak to how judges in STATE usually deal with these types of legal requests. Technically, even if a petitioner “allows” a respondent to violate an order, a respondent can still be held responsible legally for violating it. There can also be consequences for a petitioner who disregards the terms of an order - for example, if something happens during the time the order is disregarded, it may be harder to report a violation of the order. You may want to ask a lawyer for specific legal advice about your situation - here is a link for lawyers: LINK and here is more information on protection orders in your state: LINK
