Limited scope representation/unbundled legal services

I also wanted to mention another way people can sometimes get more affordable legal help is by hiring a lawyer for what’s called ”limited scope representation” or “unbundled legal services.” (These are different ways of saying the same thing.) This means hiring a lawyer for part of the case instead of the whole thing. For example, someone might hire a lawyer to help develop their case strategy or prepare a motion or other legal paperwork, but the lawyer wouldn’t go to court with the client. I’m not sure how common this is in your state, but it could be worth asking lawyers in your state if they provide limited-scope representation and what the charge would be for this type of legal service.
