How can I find out when my U visa will be decided?
I reached out to an immigration lawyer at ASISTA, a national immigration organization to ask her for information on this - she said the following:
“If she has a lawyer, the attorney can do a case inquiry form via the VSC email or phone hotline. Generally speaking, these options are only
available for attorneys of record and not clients themselves. I think I heard that U visas should be taking about 7 months or so. If she has an
attorney who could make an inquiry for her, that’d be a good option.
Or alternatively, she can do a USCIS Ombudsman Case Inquiry, via this site: https://cisomb.dhs.gov/oca/form7001.aspx. You don’t need an attorney for this option.”
ASISTA does not give advice directly to individuals but they do provide assistance and advice to attorneys who are working on immigration matters -
if your lawyer would like to follow up with them, s/he can email questionsasistahelp.org
