Can I apply for a U visa from outside of the US?*

It is possible for someone to apply for a U-visa from outside the country if you meet the other requirements, explained here: http://www.womenslaw.org/laws/federal/immigration/u-visa-crime-victims/e…
Even if someone meets all of the requirements, however, practically, it may be more difficult to accomplish this from another country since the applicant will need to get a lawyer in the US to file it, and will need to get the police certification from the police here, etc. Here is a link for immigration resources nationally where you may be able to ask more questions to someone on the phone and even see about getting an attorney: LINK [and here are specific legal services in FORMER STATE if applicable: LINK]
