.Info on innocent spouse relief

The IRS offers “innocent spouse relief” and other remedies for someone whose spouse may have wrongly caused them to suffer tax liability. If you believe you may qualify for innocent spouse relief, or another remedy, or if you want to see what other options there may be for you, you may want to get an opinion from a CPA (certified public accountant). I cannot advise you on what may or may not apply to your situation. We do not have links for CPAs but if you were in an abusive relationship, perhaps you may want to ask a local domestic violence organization [HYPERLINK] if they have any CPAs that volunteer or if they know of any organizations that provide free tax advice. You may also be able to find a tax attorney through a Lawyer Referral Service. [HYPERLINK]

You may also be able to call the IRS anonymously to get more information - I am not sure how much information they provide to callers but you can use this website to find your local IRS office.
