Would the police trace calls coming to my cell phone?

Unfortunately, I don’t have an answer for whether you can trace the source of calls to your cell phone. The police may be able to help you with this. There may be various reasons for them doing this, for example if it is part of the investigation of a crime.  You may want to call a non-emergency police number to ask under what circumstances the police may do this.

You may also be able to contact your cell phone service provider, who might be able to give you a list of the numbers of people who called. This information may also be contained on your cell phone bill. If there is a particular caller who is bothering you, you may also be able to ask your cell phone service provider to block that number.

What are the circumstances of the phone calls you are trying to screen? There are a number of crimes that often involve phone calls, including harassment, threats, and stalking. Please visit our STATE statutes page linked below for more information on the definitions of crimes in STATE: LINK
