Is it a crime to take property from the home?

Often times, when a couple lives together, the owner of certain property may depend on various factors – whether or not the couple is married, who paid for the property, whether or not the property was considered to be a gift, etc. There are theft statutes that differ depending on the state and that may depend on some of these factors that I mentioned. Unfortunately, I cannot analyze specific situations or give advice on whether or not a person may be guilty of a theft crime or not.
