Generally, in most states, it is much more difficult to withdraw a guilty plea after sentencing, but it is generally let up to the discretion (choice) of the trial judge. In general, a person can request that their guilty plea be withdrawn by filing a motion with the court. Then, generally, a judge will hold a hearing to make a decision about whether it is appropriate to withdraw the plea. Generally, if a guilty plea is withdrawn, then the case starts from the beginning and may go forward with a trial.
