I don't like the judge. How can I switch to another judge?
In many states, it is very hard to get cases switched from one judge to another unless there are specific criteria that are met. For example, if the judge has a personal relationship with a litigant. Courts try to prevent “forum shopping” as it is sometimes called, which is the idea that if someone doesn’t like a judge’s decision, s/he “shops” around for another judge to rule differently. I cannot speak to STATE’s laws on this though. Have you tried to speak to an attorney to ask for advice as to whether or not you can try to switch to a different judge? Another possibility that a person may explore when s/he believes that the judge made a wrong decision is an appeal. You can read more about appeals on our File an Appeal page. However, again, this is not specific to STATE law or your specific situation. An attorney should be able to advise you on whether or not you can appeal.
