Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
A civil order that provides protection if a family or household member is hurting you or threatens to hurt you.
If someone other than a family or household member is hurting you, there are different laws designed to protect you.
Requires the abuser to post bond (through giving money or property to the court) that the abuser will lose to the court if he violates the judge's order or commits a crime against you.
Your family violence protection order can be enforceable wherever you move.
If you are planning to move to GA or are going to be in GA for any reason, your protection or restraining order may be enforced.
