Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
A civil order that provides protection if a family or household member is hurting you or threatens to hurt you.
A civil order issued by the court to protect you from the stalking behavior of another person, regardless of your relationship to that person.
Requires the abuser to post bond (through giving money or property to the court) that the abuser will lose to the court if s/he violates the judge's order or commits a crime against you.
Your family violence protective order can be enforceable wherever you move.
