A restraining order or protective order is a legal order issued by a state court which requires one person to stop harming another. In Alaska, there are several types of orders explained below.
Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
A civil order that protects you from abuse by a household member, including relatives and dating partners.
A civil order that protects victims of stalking and sexual assault committed by someone who is not a family or household member.
Your restraining or protective order can be enforceable wherever you move.
Your out-of-state protection order can be enforced in Alaska.
