This section contains information about protection from abuse orders, protection from sexual violence or intimidation orders, and moving in and out of state with a protection order.
Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
A civil order that provides protection from harm by family or household members, sexual or intimate partners or persons who you have a child in common with.
A civil order that provides protection for victims of sexual violence or intimidation that can be filed against someone who is not a family or household member or intimate partner.
Your protection from abuse order may be enforceable wherever you move.
If you are planning to move to Pennsylvania or are going to be in PA for any reason, your out-of-state protection order may be enforceable.
