Conozca la Ley: North Dakota

ACTUALIZADA 21 de julio, 2010

A restraining order or protective order is a legal order issued by a state court which requires one person to stop harming another.  In North Dakota, there are several types of orders explained below.

  • Overview of Civil vs. Criminal Law

Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.

  • Protection Orders

A civil order that provides protection from harm by a family or household member, including someone you are dating and people in same sex relationships.

  • Disorderly Conduct Restraining Orders

If you are not eligible for a protection order based on domestic violence, you may be able to get a disorderly conduct restraining order against the abuser, who can be an acquaintance, intimate partner, family member, etc.

  • Moving with a DV Protection Order

Your ND Protective Order may be enforceable in another state.
