A restraining order or protective order is a legal order issued by a state court which requires one person to stop harming another. In Michigan, there are several types of orders explained below.
Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
A civil order that provides protection from harm by a family member, household member, someone you have a child in common with, or someone you have dated or are dating.
A stalking personal protection order (PPO) is a court order that is designed to stop stalking and harassing behavior and to protect you from your stalker
Your MI protection order may be enforceable in another state.
If you are planning to move to MI or are going to be in MI for any reason, your protection or restraining order may be enforced.
