A restraining order or protective order is a legal order issued by a state court which requires one person to stop harming another. In Hawaii, there are two types explained below.

Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
A civil order that provides protection from a family or household member.
If you do not qualify for a Family Court Order of Protection, you may be able to get protection through a District Court Restraining Order.
Your HI Family Court Order of Protection may be enforceable in another state.
If you are planning to move to HI or are going to be in HI for any reason, your protection or restraining order may be enforced.
