A restraining order or protective order is a legal order issued by a state court which requires one person to stop harming another. In Minnesota, there are orders for protection and harassment restraining orders, which are explained below.
Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
A civil order that provides protection from harm by a family or household member.
A harassment restraining order is an order issued against a harasser, regardless of your relationship to him. It can order him to stop harassing you and to have no contact with you.
Your Order for Protection may be enforceable wherever you move.
If you are planning to move to MN or are going to be in MN for any reason, your protection or restraining order may be enforced.
