A restraining order or protective order is a legal order issued by a state court which requires one person to stop harming another. In Alaska, there are several types of orders explained below.
Some restraining orders are issued in criminal court and some are issued in civil court.
A civil order that protects you from abuse by a household member, including relatives and dating partners.
Protects from incidents of threatening, following, and/or coercive behavior that occurs more than once.
Protective order designed to protect you from sexual assault from anyone who is not a household member.
Your restraining or protective order may be enforceable wherever you move.
You may have your protective order from another state enforced in Alaska.
