Where to Find Help
UPDATED July 9, 2010
To file for a protective order in Maryland, go to the Civil Clerk's desk in the District or Circuit Court in the county in which you live. Find the civil court clerk and request a petition for a protective order. If the courts are closed, a District Court Commissioner is available 24 hours, 7 days a week. For more information about filing for a protective order in MD, contact the District Court Commissioners in your area.
At the courthouse, the clerk will provide you with the forms that you need to file. If you need assistance filling out the form, ask the clerk for help. You will also find links to online forms at our Download Court Forms page. You may also get help with the court system through one of the domestic violence organizations listed on our MD State and Local Programs page.
Below are listed the District and Circuit Courthouses for each county in Maryland. For more detailed information about the courts in MD visit the Maryland Judiciary courts website.
