To file for a protective order in Louisiana, you may go to the courthouse where you currently live, where you formerly lived, where your abuser lives, or where the abuse took place. Find the civil court clerk and request a petition for a protective order.

At the courthouse, the clerk will provide you with the forms that you need to file. If you need assistance filling out the form, ask the clerk for help.  These forms are not available online at this time. You may also get help with the court system through one of the domestic violence agencies listed on our LA State and Local Programs page.
