In Kentucky, to file for a Domestic Violence Order (DVO), go to the clerk’s office at the Circuit or District Courthouse in the county where you live. If there is a Family Court in your county, then you should file there.  If you have fled the county where you live to escape your abuser, you may go to the Courthouse in the county you have fled to. Tell the clerk you want to file for an Emergency Protective Order and a Domestic Violence Order.

At the courthouse, the clerk will provide you with the forms that you need to file. If you need assistance filling out the form, ask the clerk for help. You will also find links to online forms at our Download Court Forms page. You may also get help with the court system through one of the domestic violence organizations listed on our KY State and Local Programs page.

Listed below are the courthouses for each county and contact information for the court clerk. For more information on the Kentucky court system, go to: www.kycourts.net
