To file for a protection order in Maryland, go to the Civil Clerk's desk in the District or Circuit Court in the county in which you live. Find the civil court clerk and request a petition for a protection order.

At the courthouse, the clerk will provide you with the forms that you need to file. If you need assistance filling out the form, ask the clerk for help. You will also find links to online forms at our Download Court Forms page. You may also get help with the court system through one of the domestic violence organizations listed on our MD State and Local Programs page.

Below are listed the District and Circuit Courthouses for each city or town in Maryland. For more detailed information about the courts in your county or in Maryland, you can log onto www.courts.state.md.us .
