To file for a protective order in New Hampshire, go to the district court of the town in which you or the abuser lives, or to the superior court of the county in which either you or the abuser lives. Find the civil court clerk and request a petition for a protective order.

At the courthouse, the clerk will provide you with the forms that you need to file. If you need assistance filling out the form, ask the clerk for help. You will also find links to online forms at our Download Court Forms page. You may also get help with the court system through one of the domestic violence organizations listed on our NH State and Local Programs page.

Listed below are the county courthouses for New Hampshire. For more information about the New Hampshire court system, go to: www.state.nh.us/courts/aoc/nameadrs.htm.
