To file for a protective order in Louisiana, you may go to the courthouse where you currently live, where you formerly lived, where your abuser lives, or where the abuse took place. Find the civil court clerk and request a petition for a protective order.

At the courthouse, the clerk will provide you with the forms that you need to file. If you need assistance filling out the form, ask the clerk for help. You will also find links to online forms at our Download Court Forms page. You may also get help with the court system through one of the domestic violence agencies listed on our LA State and Local Programs page.

Listed alphabetically by parish below are all the courthouses in Louisiana. You will also find information at the end of the list for the Louisiana Courts of Appeal and the Louisiana Supreme Court. You will find this and additional information at: www.lafayetteparishclerk.com/district.html.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION IN AREAS AFFECTED BY KATRINA & RITA:

Some courthouses may be closed or have relocated in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Contact your local domestic violence organization (LA State and Local Programs) for more information.
