Where to Find Help
UPDATED April 11, 2008
To file for a Protection Order in Idaho, go to the county or district court in the county where you live, or where the abuser lives. Usually domestic relations cases are heard in the Magistrate Divisions, however some counties may hear domestic relations cases in District Court. If there is a Magistrate Division in your county, try that first. At the court, find the civil court clerk and request a petition for a Protection Order.
At the courthouse, the clerk will provide you with the forms that you need to file. If you need assistance filling out the form, ask the clerk for help. You will also find links to online forms at our Download Court Forms page. You may also get help with the court system through one of the domestic violence organizations listed on our ID State and Local Programs page.
Listed below are telephone numbers and addresses for the clerks of the county courts in Idaho. For information on the court system in Idaho, go to: www2.state.id.us/judicial.
